Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any water stations on the courses?
No, this is a self-supporting race. We recommend that you carry water/energy drink in a water bottle or wear a hydration pack. There will be water available at the end of the race.

Do top finishers for their categories receive any prizing for placing?
All top finishers will receive a round of applause and bragging rights. All prizes will be awarded as draw prizes available to all athletes.

Will there be race day registration available?
Yes, but with pre-registrations deals, why would you pass up on the savings? The cost for race day registration will be $10 more than the pre-registered price and Blitz apparel will be dependent on availability.

If there is not enough snow will the event still run on the scheduled date?
Yes, if mother nature does not cooperate participants will complete the race in running shoes.

Common Snowshoe Questions:

What do you wear while snowshoeing?
The good news is you won't need to buy a lot of expensive gear, chances are some of it is probably in your closet! Here is a list of what you could expect to wear on an average outing:

Warm layers: Put on some toasty non-cotton long underwear as a foundation with a middle insulating layer of fleece or wool. Include an outer layer to block wind or snow if the conditions demand it. You can shed layers as you get warm and put them back on as you cool.

Footwear: Warm socks (wool or polypropylene), waterproof hiking boots, winter boots, or even your waterproof running shoes! Consider buying a pair of gaiters, they're great for keeping your ankles dry in deep powder.

Hat and Gloves: Both of these items are very important for any winter weather. Remember you lose a considerable amount of heat from your head. If you're cold- put a hat on.

Extras: Even though it's cold out, you still need to keep hydrated, so bring the water bottle with!

What to bring for the event:

  • snowshoes of course!
  • running shoes or light hikers
  • long tights or waterproof/breathable pants
  • gators, some people like them
  • water
  • gloves & hat
  • changes of clothes for after the race
